Namesco Review: Web Hosting Review

Namesco Overview:

Namesco Hosting was first seen in its current format in 2000. Previously it had been a partnership of two companies and with its continuing love of mergers and takeovers, it has since collected another two companies and brought them under its umbrella of internet services. The wisdom, customer base and wealth of experience that Namesco now employs makes it one of the most successful and sought after hosting providers in the United Kingdom.

Namesco know their market well, and they’re leaders in Home User, Small and Medium sized business hosting. They are continually growing both in themselves and in their service, currently sitting at the 4th largest UK domain name and hosting provider, and breaking into the top 50 internationally.

Hosting Features:

Namesco pride themselves as being the best in everything that they offer, and as such they pack an incredibly strong punch when it comes to the technicalities of their products. Their starter shared hosting package weighs in with these statistics:

Techie Features Marketing & Bonus Features
5GB Web Storage Space 2 Free Website Builders: Sitemaker & Sitemaker Pro

Shared Hosting Plans:

Namesco Hosting currently offer four different packages for their customers. Each of them is catered to specific users and comes priced accordingly. The “Starter” package is labelled as being perfect for personal websites and blogs. This weighs in at £3.99 per month, excluding VAT for a shared hosting package with 1 domain, 5GB storage, 10GB bandwidth monthly and 10 e-mail accounts.

The upgrades to this beginner step come in the form of Professional for powerful business hosting (£7.49, 1 domain, 10GB storage, 20GB bandwidth, 50 e-mail accounts), Premium for High traffic business websites (£15.83, 15 domains, 50GB storage, 50GB bandwidth, 300 e-mails) and Platinum for developers and resellers (£29.16, Unlimited domains, storage and e-mail accounts with 200GB bandwidth.)

Pricing Concerns:

We did find it difficult to follow their pricing model, as prices seemed to change according to the domain selected and length of domain registration. This was one of the biggest qualms we found with Namesco overall. Their free domain offer with each package is only available with annual plans. If you’re selecting a new domain name to register for one of their hosting plans, be sure to review the length of domain registration you choose. This will impact the overall price of your package.

Dedicated Hosting Plans:

By Namesco’s very nature, they are a large and diverse company. As such they can offer more than a lot of their competitors, having acquired a varied skill base of workers. Namesco can also offer dedicated servers and virtual servers for those who need better access, stability and security for their websites. Namesco are even now offering their own broadband service.

Hosting Extras:

With every package that Namesco features, comes the free ‘More Added!’ feature with more than 160 1 click installs including the very popular WordPress script. The free domain cart, choice between Windows or Linux hosting, free instant setup and fast UK support makes it an incredibly customisable service and great value for money. Users can cost their activities specifically to their needs, so they will never pay for features that they don’t need, want or use. With the plethora of unlimited features in the Platinum shared hosting account, this hosting provider offers a true jam-packed punch.

Customer Support:

Customers registered with Namesco can access instant support via their control panel, whilst everybody else can freely browse their online catalogue of knowledge. Their skilled workers have spent a lot of time and effort created an online database that will answer the vast majority of user questions out there. For those rare queries that aren’t covered, you have the option to log a support ticket or call Namesco directly, from anywhere in the world.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for in their database of video tutorials, articles or helpful downloadable guides, contact their representatives. The Namesco support center is based in the UK, so you can be sure that when you dial their number, the call is toll-free, the call is fast, and the rep is in your time-zone. Be sure to note, though, that their phone support is not 24/7, and that each department is available at different times of the day. We were also disappointed that they have no LiveChat module, a feature that should be standard for any top hosting company this day in age. We recommend you to open a ticket and pick up the phone if you need assistance immediately.

We have come to expect the 99.99% uptime guarantee in this industry, and Namesco don’t cheap on that either. The 0.01% is there to cover them for updates and in case of a flitting background before their back-up can kick in. With managed hosting and an FTP lock to protect from hackers, reliability is at the top of Namesco’s performance list.

Ease of Use:

Namesco are quite unique in their selection of a re-brandable control panel, rather than opting for the popular cPanel or Plesk.

Their bespoke online control panel is catered to the user, with a ‘My Offers’ page individual to each customer. The interface is very sleek and speedy, with an intuitive navigation and easy management of billing within the panel itself. The control panel is constantly being revised and improved, which gives it a significant edge over competing panels.

Bottom Line:

We found Namesco to provide a high level of service for customers. We were, however, disappointed with their pricing model which was difficult to follow without telephone assistance. Whereas most hosting providers are specialists in a certain field and weaker in others, Namesco have a level of dedication to all of their products that is not often seen. With features to suit both beginners and veterans, Namesco is swiftly going to be tickling the toes some of the top hosting companies in the UK charts.
